Ludacris-ness

This will be a short entry, but I feel the need to comment. Sorry in advance if anyone's offended (i have edited for content).

Recently, rapper Ludacris released a classy and dignified song entitled “Politics (Obama Is Here).” I though it's worth sharing the highlights with you...maybe it will convince you (Democrat, Republican or Independent) who you should vote for in November.

Hillary hated on you [Obama], so that b***h is irrelevant

Paint the White House black and I'm sure that's got 'em terrified
McCain don't belong in any chair unless he's paralyzed
Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped
Ball up all of his speeches and I throw 'em like candy wrap
'cause what you talking I hear nothing even relevant
and you the worst of all 43 presidents

Really Ludacris? Once I get past your "creative" spelling and grammar, I see your genuinely sophisticated political analysis. You should write a book or something, but you would have to get it past the spell check, so I guess maybe that's not such a good idea. Way to man up and show us how an intelligent, well-informed person interacts with ideas that they disagree with. You're a pillar of wisdom, a master of rhetoric, man of genius, a statesman and a scholar. Or maybe you're just an idiot who should get a real job.

You know...what gets me is that somewhere there is an 18 year old who will vote for the first time this election and, sadly, he will be swayed by the wisdom of ludacris.

This is the real reason we're going to be missionaries (not really)...to get away from a country since the leadership will be determined by stupid people who don't pay attention to anything but rap.

Yeah, those are pretty idiotic lyrics. I would firmly agree. I think it doesn't bode well or reflect well on Ludacris, Obama, or any of Obama's supporters. I'm not a fan of his music and personally no matter what the song, I think most of it is stupid and not good hip-hop. I do have to say, I am a fan of his acting. Unlike most rappers he has shown he has some ability to do that convincingly. Now if he would focus on that and not make stupid songs like this.

Finally, I do take issue at your assertion that Ludacris needs to find a "real job." I think that is a little harsh for a few reasons. I think being an artist and being someone who can express their ability and question philosophy, society, and institutions is a good thing. Sadly, Ludacris does not do this and sadly, like the trend of most hip-hop these days it is all just self-glorification. That really bothers me and the popularity of the genre now bothers me. Hip-Hop used to be one of the few ways that African-Americans could truly say something meaningful about their community and society in general, but now hip-hop has been watered down and it is now all centered on individual rappers rather than any kind of substance. I crave for the old days of hip-hop and hopefully, one day this dry period of absolute ridiculousness will pass and people will get back to the basics of hip-hop, as an art form and not be the loud, empty, and no pun intended, ludicrous form of entertainment.
